Drink-driving is the No.1 reason for an instant driving ban. In UK, the DVLA bans around 40,000 drivers each year, almost 110 drivers each day of the week. Another 40,000 drivers are under review for similar offences.
Not all these HRO (High Risk Offender) offences are the same. Each offence has a specific ban and path to getting your license back depending on many factors.
Understanding your HRO ban and the DVLA standards for alcohol misuse can therefore be very confusing. The standards vary for Group 1 and Group Drivers and are complicated by whether you are further classified as having ‘high-risk features’ or ‘misuse/dependency’.
In our 20-year experience of delivering 10,000’s of DVLA HRO medicals, few banned individuals are clear about their offence and how to alter their drinking patterns to optimise their chances of returning to the road.

You will complete a questionnaire to understand your circumstances and which category you have been placed.
The consultation will focus on how to best navigate the process of getting your license back.
You can have this consultation before your ban ends and before you complete the DVLA D27 form.

CDT Blood Test + Follow-up Consultation
Complete your questionnaire which will be reviewed along with your CDT blood test result.

The CDT blood test kit will be already at the clinic where your blood will also be taken within the package price.
The follow-up online consultation is usually within 3-4 days will provide an indication of whether your case is likely to be classed as "Red" (Fail), "Amber" (Review) or "Green" (Pass).

We will advise on how to optimise yourself to get your license back.

FAQs
Are you the DVLA?
No. We have DVLA-approved doctors that have done over 10,000 HRO Medicals over 20 years but we are not the DVLA.

Where are your locations for CDT blood tests?
We have 21 locations in England, Wales and Scotland.

How quickly can I have the pre-test online consultation?
The same day as long as you have completed your questionnaire which takes less than 5 minutes. Book your consultation here. If you choose to have your CDT blood test we will contact you for a consultation as soon as we have your result which takes 3-4 days.

Will you turn round the test result in time for my DVLA medical?
We aim to have your result in hand within 96 hours of it arriving in the laboratory. If you contact us as soon as you receive your DVLA letter, we can have your test and consultation and tests done within the first week. That leaves us 5 weeks to optimise you before the proper DVLA medical.

Can I have my tests and consultation even before my ban ends to prepare myself?
Absolutely. That gives us plenty of time. We recommend that you start as soon as you get your DVLA D27 renewal form which is usually sent 90 days before your ban ends giving us plenty of time to optimise you. Ideally you should be doing your CDT blood test and consultation at the same time as your DDRC.

We are a Drink Driving Rehabilitation Courses (DDRS) centre. Can we offer CDT testing in partnership with you?
Absolutely. We can even send a doctor to your course to obtain blood followed by an individual online consultations to assess each case. We believe the earlier we pick up red flags, the earlier we can alter drink driving behaviour - exactly what you do.

Do you inform DVLA of my test result?
No. Your results are protected by our Privacy and Data Policy.

Is it possible to improve my CDT results if I am too high?
Yes. CDT levels can improve as long as you abstain and give it enough time to clear from the body. We will discuss on how to best do this within the timescale you have considering your HRO status and nature of your ban.

Can I request that I do my final HRO Medical with your clinic network?
Yes. We will organise with the DVLA to have your medical changed to our network with your consent.
